OUR MISSION

The mission of the Organization shall be to support the animal shelters of Independence and Jackson County, Missouri. This will be done by recruiting, training and equipping volunteers; providing medical, food and other animal supplies; raising funds for remodeling, expanding and building animal shelters; and providing community education on the care, protection, and relations of animals and humans.

OUR ORGANIZATION

The Friends of the Shelter is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization partnering with the Truman Heartland Community Foundation - a public charity that recieves, holds, invests and administers assets for other charitable organizations.  Friends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer organization working to make a difference in the lives of animals.
